Why convert a PNG to JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression that's tuned for photographs and complex images with lots of color gradients — it typically produces much smaller files than PNG for that kind of content. The trade-off is that JPG has no alpha channel, so it can't represent transparency the way PNG can.
